Your Local Conservative Association
The local Conservative association is made up of lots of different people of all ages and from all walks of life who share similar views on how we want out community, council and country to be governed.
To help support the work of the Conservative Party and our local Conserverative representatives the association undertakes a number of important roles, from campaign, to fundraising, to running discussion groups through the Conservative Policy Forum to debate the key issues facing Britain.
Like any voluntary organisation our team is only as strong as the people who get involved. We actively encourage Conservative supporters who live or work locally to join and become involved in our work.
The Putney constituency nestles around the southern bank of the River Thames opposite Fulham. As well as Putney itself, it also includes the districts of Roehampton, which runs along the edge of Richmond Park, and Southfields, which lies in the Wandle Valley at the bottom of West Hill. It also takes in a small part of Wandsworth Town; that part south of Wandsworth High Street and west of Garratt Lane, so the Southside Shopping Centre is in the constituency.
The constituency is made up of 6 electoral districts or wards:
- East Putney
- Roehampton and Putney Heath
- West Hill
- West Putney
On Wednesday 30th October, following a packed selection meeting at the Werter Road Community Church this evening, Putney Conservatives voted overwhelmingly for Will Sweet to be the new Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Putney and to spearhead our drive to retain the parliamentary seat.
Wandsworth is administered by 60 Councillors, with 3 apiece from 20 wards. Since the 2018 borough elections, 33 of these Councillors are Conservative and 26 are Labour. The Conservatives have had an overall majority on the council since 1978 and have over the years gone on to consistently deliver services independently rated as being some of the very best in the country; alongside the UK’s lowest Council Tax.
