Cllr. Ravi Govindia - East Putney

Cllr Ravi Govindia CBE, is the Leader of Wandsworth Council. He has been a Councillor since 1982 and is currently a Councillor for the East Putney ward. He has led the Wandsworth Conservative Council Group since 2011. He led the regeneration of Wandsworth riverside and Nine Elms and is currently delivering regeneration of two Wandsworth Council estates. In 2016, Ravi was appointed as one of the experts to the panel led by Lord Heseltine on Estate Regeneration. 

Outside of his roles on the council, Ravi is the Chairman of Central London Forward and the Conservative Whip on London Councils. Until recently, he was member of the London Mayor’s Homes for Londoners Board.

His past involvement in the voluntary and charity sectors is extensive and includes being a Governor of Gatton Primary School, Trustee of the Royal Hospital for Neuro-Disability, Chair of the arts charity - Tara Arts, and Board Member of Battersea Arts Centre

He has also been director of Volcanoes Safaris – a unique great ape ecotourism business specialising in mountain gorilla safaris to Africa and is currently a Trustee of Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust - working with rural communities in Uganda and Rwanda and contributing to conservation.

He worked for the Croydon CRE as Community Relations Officer, and later joined Greater London Association of Disabled People as Head of Administration and Fund-Raising. 

Ravi grew up in Uganda, he was the third generation of his family to be born there. Having been kicked out Uganda by Idi Amin, Ravi ended up in the UK. After his arrival in Britain he lived for a time in Plymouth before coming to London, where he went to Queen Mary College to read Law. While a student he took up digs in Balham and later made this borough his home.

He is married to Arti, a Theatre Director. They have two sons.

Cllr. Steffi Sutters - West Putney

Steffi divides her time between her role as Wandsworth Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services and Open Spaces and campaigning on local issues. Last year she successfully attracted investment to West Putney that will help to deliver a range of environmental improvements in 2018. Among other community roles, Steffi has served as a Governor at Ark Putney Academy.
