Cllr. Ian Lewer - West Putney

Ian moved to Wandsworth in 2012 and has been a local councillor since 2014. Alongside representing his ward, West Putney, Ian fulfills other key roles within Wandsworth Council including: as the Chairman of the Adult Care and Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee; sitting on Health and Wellbeing Board and sitting on the South West London and Surrey Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee amongst others.

He feels that maintaining the Borough's unique character and ensuring that it continues to have the best public services alongside having the lowest Council Tax rate in the country is the primary duty of any local representative. Ian also believes in community service and standing for the council is a key part of serving the people of the Borough.

He particularly feels that a vital part of the life of any community is the way it nurtures its younger members. Serving as a Governor of Floreat Wandsworth Primary School, he believes that education is the most important function that we provide as a society and our local schools are the key drivers of this. Ian feels strongly that young people today deserve and need the best education possible to prepare them for success in a rapidly changing world. He hopes that through the council he can encourage more young people to become involved in their community and help themselves to the great opportunities available in Wandsworth.

Ian has been involved in and fundraised for several charities including Help for Hero's, the British Heart Foundation. He also serves as a trustee of the One Trust and a board member of A2i Dyslexia.

Ian has had a varied business career encompassing sales, the leisure industry and more recently working for a major international insurance company. Ian is a keen swimmer and runs regularly in the local area to keep fit. He is also a member of the Campaign for Real Ale.
