Putney Conservatives are proud to have been part of the resurgence in the Conservative Party’s parliamentary fortunes in 2005 when Justine Greening was returned as the first Conservative MP to the new Parliament. The swing we achieved in Putney of 6.5% with 42.4% of the vote was the result of Justine's hard work over several years, backed up by the energetic Putney campaign team.
Justine Greening is restanding as the Conservative Candidate for Putney, Roehampton and Southfields and has made four key campaign pledges:
1. Stop the Heathrow expansion
2. Better District Line and South West Train Services
3. Safer streets in Putney, Roehampton and Southfields
4. Roehampton regeneration, it is essential that we creating jobs and improving facilities in Roehampton.

Putney Conservative Association - A Background
Putney Conservative Association is the local association for Conservatives living in the six wards (Roehampton, Southfields, Thamesfield, West Putney, East Putney and West Hill) which make up the Putney parliamentary constituency. Along with Battersea and Tooting constituencies, we comprise the London Borough of Wandsworth.

How is Putney represented in Wandsworth Borough Council?
In Spring 2006 Putney Conservatives fought a very successful local election campaign, successfully holding (with increased majorities) all 18 Conservative council seats across the six Putney wards. Wandsworth Borough Council is judged by independent auditors to be one of the top five Councils in England in terms of efficiency and quality of service, and also levies the lowest council tax in the country.

How does Putney Conservative Association work?
Our Conservative Association has its offices in Summerstown, on the borders of Balham and Tooting, from where we administer the work of our party in the Putney Constituency. This includes providing a local office for our agent and support staff, servicing the needs of our party members in Putney and working to secure the re-election of Justine Greening MP, Conservative MEPs for the London Area, and Conservative Wandsworth Councillors.

What events does Putney Conservative Association run?
We organise a huge range of events across the Association each year, from music evenings and wine tastings, to garden parties and political suppers. Many of these events are attended by Conservative MPs and shadow front bench spokesman. These events are a great chance to meet MPs and also to get to know the local voluntary team before you decide to get involved, and we welcome all members.

How else does Putney Conservative Association work for local residents?
Even between elections, we undertake weekly survey canvassing to ensure our elected representatives stay on top of Putney residents’ key concerns. We also run action days on a regular basis to raise the highlight key issues impacting on Putney. Recently we ran two campaign days on Putney High Street to highlight the damage that the Government’s planned cuts to NHS services would have on local residents’ access to healthcare facilities.

Through our recently formed Policy Forum, Putney Association members are able to contribute to the policy formation process at Conservative Campaign HQ currently underway as part of a nationwide consultation process. The feedback from the Policy Forum is considered by David Cameron’s policy team who are currently developing the Conservative Party’s policy themes which will form the basis for the next General Election Campaign.
